According to the United Nations, 2017 has designated as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. This is an incredible and unique opportunity to raise awareness of sustainability in tourism for public and private sector to work on the positive change. To achieve this campagin, The International Year 2017 emphasize the tourism's role in five key areas :
(1) Inclusive and sustainable economic growth
(2) Social inclusiveness, employment and poverty reduction
(3) Resource efficiency, environmental protection and climate change
(4) Cultural values, diversity and heritage
(5) Mutual understanding, peace and security.
With this remarkable point, LightBlue has participated in Sustainable Tourism Training Programme, hosted by Global Sustainable Tourism Council in Bangkok on 13th – 15th February 2017 (co-hosted by Pacific Asia Travel Association and Swisscontact) to learn more about how to use tourism as a tool for sustainable development and sustainability marketing for tourism businesses and destinations. GSTC and Swisscontact has seen the importance of LightBlue's concept on food waste, LightBlue is invited as a speaker for the upcoming forum on Sustainability in Tourism & Hospitality at Novotel Max Yangoon in Myanmar. This event will take place on 29th and 30th of March 2017.
