LightBlue - WWF's Success For A Greener Executive Business Luncheon
LightBlue joins hands with WWF and Dusit Thani Hotel to take the lead in creating a more sustainable luncheon for exclusive business partners.

25th March, 2016 – LightBlue Environmental Consulting Co. Ltd., the Bangkok-based Hotel Sustainability Consultancy, recently joined hands with World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Thailand to design a sustainable and ethical Exclusive Business Luncheon. LightBlue – WWF efforts to reduce environmental impacts spanned over different aspects of event management. The venue, the luxurious Dusit Thani Bangkok Hotel, was first selected for its green credentials (existing certification, proximity with public transports) and its enthusiasm to cater to clients’ interest in low impact meetings. LBEC worked closely with the hotel’s event organisers and kitchen teams to ensure that most of the food was sourced sustainably (i.e. organic, local, non GMOs, seasonal, and fair-trade). Arrangements were made to conserve as much water and energy spent for the event as possible, in addition to the initiative to minimize disposable waste (such as that of packaging or stationaries).
Invitees were further engaged during the event, with CO2 emission from participants’ transports being calculated and communicated to guest to raise awareness. Options to offset Carbon emissions was also offered. Green Meetings have gained a lot of momentum in Asia, as public awareness regarding environmental issues increases. Being able to host meetings and events with minimum environmental impacts are now a criterion frequently sought after, not only by conservation organisation, but also by governmental bodies and corporations with responsible procurement policies. Green Meeting Programs help organisers to measure the full impacts of events, realise practical ways to mitigate it, gain a competitive advantage and save on operational costs.
